Pictures are up + First night in Singapore

So I finally sat down and extracted the pictures from my arious capture devices. You can find them at the following link:

I put various captions on them, hopefully these will amuse and enlighten. Let's go through some of the more intersting ones:


When arriving in Singapore I was housed with a temporary roomate in a condo complexe called Normanton Park. It's really a privatized HDB which is like HLMs in montreal. So you can expect them to be a bit shitty. Which it was.


When arriving, the housing agent met me outside the condo (at 2:45am) and led me up to the unit. There was no AC in the living room (and a room without AC in Singapore is pretty much a sauna). And the bathroom door was locked shut. Now after 27h in a plane, you NEED to take a shower and do some buisness.



So I thought to myself, What would MacGuyver do? Go down to the complexe pool for a chlorinated bath and do his buisness in the change room/bathroom anexed to it of course. So off I went. It wasn't perfect but beggars can't be choosers right. Well it was bliss after 27h of stewing in your filth and the guy's next to you. Even the homeless man sleeping in the locker room while I was taking a dump didn't phase me.


So after my "bath" and a quick toothbrush in the kitchen sink off to sleep I went after having not slept since leaving montreal 36h ago. I only slept for 5 hours because it was so damn cold. Who would have fathomed that in Singapore? Well the AC here is potent as an icebox. Every bedroom has its own and it is blissful, with the right protection which the beds obviously don't have. So I shivered in my bed all night covered by that flimsy white sheet and a bathtowel from the closet. Next day I went to Ikea to buy a duvvet cover. BOOYA!!

Inauguration post

I guess eventually everyone has to crack and give in to the new ways of the world. It just took me a trip to the other side of the globe to give in. So here we are fellow readers, my first post in this world of electronic communications.

The purpose of this blog is to keep track of all the things I might observe, discover and feel a need to share about on this adventure to the beatiful city of Singapore and any travels I may partake in during this time away from home. It is also my way of sharing this experience with friends and family who are living twelve hours in the past.
